MODULES IN LPCMC'S OPEN AND
DISTANCE LEARNING PROGRAMMES IN CREDIT MANAGEMENT.
------in countries where the
college does not have an affiliate
MODULE I: PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES
The LPCMC is UK's foremost professional higher academic
institution dedicated for capacity acquisition in credit management
with emphasis on leadership, professional performance and informed
understanding of established business credit management practice
that puts theory into practice. This means that LPCMC offers one
course only - credit management, which is innovatively segmented
into three recognizable professional qualifications awards
namely:
- International Advanced Diploma in Credit Management (IAD)
- International Executive Postgraduate Diploma in Credit
Management (IPGD)
- International Certified Postgraduate Fellow in Credit
Management (FICP)
Each of these programmes carries twelve month
duration.
These credit management qualifications can only be earned through
distance learning programme structured in such a way that provides
the highest degree of flexibility. This flexibility reflects LPCMC's
belief that the traditional role of credit managers in the market
place will continue to change dramatically. Today's global credit
market therefore requires more knowledge and increased understanding
of cultural differences, economic changes and diverse work ethics
espoused by credit industries around the world. LPCMC's distance
learning programme is essentially designed to prepare students for
positions of higher credit management responsibility in workplace
worldwide.
Most people ask this question: "What can I do for labour
market when I finish this programme?"
Specialist qualification in credit management enables an
individual who is already directly or indirectly involved in credit
functions to either get promoted or be employed as Credit Analyst,
Credit Manager, Credit Controller, Credit Executive Trainee, Head of
Credit Department, Head of Accounts Recovery Department, Export
Credit Manager, Credit Control Supervisor. At a higher level, the
individual can be elevated to Deputy General Manager, Assistant
General Manager or Executive Director in charge of Credit Risk in an
organization. Also, with little resources, a credit management
specialist may choose not to work for anybody; instead, he or she
may straight-away set up, own and manage credit management
consulting company, credit reference company, credit rating agency,
credit risk mitigation company and other credit management
outsourcing services including debt factoring, receivables
management and credit management training, the list is endless. This
is a profession that helps a student to move up the ladder of life
than any other one. Indeed, CREDIT MANAGEMENT, unknown to many, is
the world most lucrative career available for today's young and
middle class professionals. This is a profession that sits you with
business leaders around the world.
MODULE II: PROGRAMME RESOURCES
- LPCMC's learning resources for its students are appropriate to
their needs, knowledge and experience in credit
management.
- LPCMC ensures that its study packs for distance-learning
student are effective and do not contain significant errors of
fact, misleading or out-of-date information, concepts or
approaches.
- Our course materials which we developed in study packs are
designed for a specific and clearly stated level of credit
management learning.
- The materials are structured to facilitate individual
independent study for the development of his or her skills while
at the same time continuing his or her office work.
- Student's programme learning curve terminates at the ninth
month of the twelve months programme duration. This means that
the remaining three months will be for the programme project
writing or dissertation as the case may be.
- Consequently, student for distance learning degree programme
must round off before the end of eighth month of the programme
duration. This will ensure un-hindered remittance of his or her
academic records by LPCMC to the American University of London,
UK for academic administration, evaluation and issuance of
degree certificate.
- In line with the global policy on open distance learning
specialized programmes, student once admitted for the American
University of London programme through LPCMC, or LPCMC's own
open distance learning specialist qualification programmes in
credit management, will not be allowed for any reason whatsoever
to either abandon, defer, postpone or discontinue his or her
studies. If this happens, any fee or all the fees paid by the
student will be completely forfeited. Even if the student comes
back in the future to complete the programme, such student will
have to start the programme afresh, including the payment of all
fees regardless of the payment made in the past.
- Apart from the mandatory coursework assignments which learner
will find at the end of each study pack, LPCMC maintains an
arrangement for the writing of rigorous "Programme
Completion Examination (PCE)" by the learner. This will
take place on a date in the ninth month of the twelve months
programme duration. The method will be either on-line or as may
be decided by the LPCMC, but basically classroom-based setting
at LPCMC study centre in the learner's country.
MODULE III: PROGRAMME SUPPORTS
- LPCMC students receive their study pack materials (SP)
regularly, eg semester by semester and read independently,
subject to frequent coursework assignments, strictly supervised
semester examinations and project writing.
- The LPCMC maintains a clear commitment to helping its
distance-learning students achieve their specialized educational
goals in credit management.
- While our student has overall responsibility for his or her
own learning, it is important to state that LPCMC's role will be
supportive.
- Our study pack support and assignment of course supervisor to
a student will be sufficient to meet the reasonable needs of
every student, encourage the learning process and facilitate
successful completion of whatever programme that he or she may
have chosen.
- LPCMC has in place established procedures to handle any
difficulties that may be experienced between our
distance-learning student and our course supervisor.
- LPCMC students are encouraged to complete their course within
the period. Progress is monitored, and students are provided
with prompt and helpful comments on their progress in relation
to learning expectations and goals. This is achieved through
monitoring of students' regular assignments, evaluate student's
semester examinations, projects, and/or answering queries with
prompt feedback given to students.
